Primary Purpose:
Support the district's mission to ensure academic success by designing, implementing, and supporting rigorous, vertically aligned elementary science and social studies programs. Provide instructional leadership and direct support to teachers and campus instructional staff to improve student achievement, critical thinking, scientific reasoning, and civic understanding, while ensuring alignment to district priorities and state standards.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Master's degree preferred. Valid Texas teaching certificate. Supervision or Mid-management certificate preferred.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of Texas Elementary Science and Social Studies TEKS and vertical alignment expectations Understanding of research-based instructional strategies for science inquiry and social studies instruction Knowledge of scientific practices, lab safety, and hands-on instructional design Ability to analyze student performance data and instructional evidence to inform action Experience supporting curriculum development, assessment design, and instructional resources Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Ability to collaborate across departments and grade levels
Experience:
Five (5) years of successful elementary classroom teaching experience, preferably in science, social studies, or STEM Experience presenting professional development and facilitating PLCs
Instructional and Program Support:
Design, revise, and maintain elementary science and social studies curriculum documents aligned to TEKS, district YAGs, and instructional expectations Ensure coherence and alignment of science and social studies curriculum across elementary campuses Participate in the evaluation, selection, and implementation of instructional materials, lab resources, and digital tools Develop and curate high-quality instructional resources within EduHub and other district platforms Support the district's embedded instructional framework (AVID WICOR) through science and social studies instruction Model inquiry-based learning, disciplinary literacy, collaboration, and student discourse Support implementation of science and engineering practices and social studies critical thinking skills Provide job-embedded coaching and instructional support to teachers and campus leaders Support campus-based and district PLCs Facilitate data-informed PLC conversations tied to curriculum, instruction, and assessment Plan and deliver targeted professional development aligned to district priorities and identified needs Develop tools, exemplars, pacing guidance, and content-specific supports (including lab safety where applicable) Analyze student achievement data, formative assessment evidence, and classroom artifacts to identify trends and gaps Support district and campus work around HB1416 Participate in Data and Academic Tours and instructional walkthroughs to gather evidence of implementation and impact Support campuses in translating data findings into instructional actions and support plans Monitor curriculum implementation fidelity and recommend adjustments based on data and feedback Perform other duties as assigned in alignment with district and division priorities Collaboration and Communication Collaborate with district coordinators, specialists, and departments to support aligned science and social studies instruction Work closely with secondary science and social studies coordinators to ensure K-12 alignment and readiness Communicate regularly with campuses regarding curriculum updates, resources, lab requirements, and professional learning Partner with Special Education, Bilingual/ESL, MTSS, Advanced Academics, and other departments to support all learners Support district CCMR and STEM goals by strengthening foundational science and social studies instruction Assist with the development and monitoring of science and social studies goals tied to the District Improvement Plan Provide reports and analysis to district leadership to inform instructional decision-making Support science and social studies curriculum adoption cycles, resource management, and long-term instructional planning Participate in regular meetings with the Director of Academics and content team.
