JOB DESCRIPTION
Part-Time Children's Ministry Coordinator Position Overview The Children's Ministry Coordinator supports the spiritual formation of children by organizing, leading, and maintaining programs for the nursery through High School age children. This part-time role focuses on creating a safe, engaging, and Christ-centered environment for children, volunteers, and families. Key Responsibilities Program Leadership Administer and supervise weekly children's ministry activities, including at least two hours of Godly Play preparation, setup, instruction, cleanup. Godly Play is a Montessori-based program designed for children aged 2.5 to 9—each Sunday morning. Responsibilities also include oversight of the Joyful Path program for older children, the nursery, summer Arts Camp, and designated special events as assigned. Volunteer Coordinator
- Responsible for recruiting, instructing, organizing, and overseeing volunteers to provide sufficient support and deliver exceptional ministry activities. Curriculum Management
- Collaborates with the Christian Education Taskforce on curriculum, Sunday programming, and youth events. Coordinates with worship team to involve children in services through choir, readings, communion, and other suitable activities. Safety and compliance
- Enforce child-related policies, require annual background checks for volunteers, and implement safe classroom practices. Safety is a priority. Ensure that each minor working directly with the coordinator maintains a valid Minors Permit. Proactively monitor the annual permit status and prepare for timely renewals. Family Engagement
- Keep parents and guardians informed and supported through regular communication. Event Planning
- Participate in organizing or managing special events, including holiday programs, family nights, and outreach initiatives. Administration
- Oversee attendance records, maintain volunteer documentation, coordinate ministry calendars, and manage supply inventories while adhering to the assigned budget.
Minimum Qualifications Proven experience working with children in ministry or educational environments. Successful completion of State Background Check. Current First aid and CPR certification. If not current, must be completed within first 30 days of employment. Excellent organizational and communication abilities. Capability to recruit, motivate, and supervise volunteers effectively. Commitment to work collaboratively with staff, families, and volunteers. Proficiency in basic administrative tasks and computer skills, including email. Experience with Godly Play and/or Montessori is preferred but not required. Training can be provided. Core Competencies Leadership

Physical Requirements Tasks involve lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 lbs., as well as frequent bending, kneeling, and sitting on the floor. Must have the ability to actively supervise, play with, and quickly respond to children in emergencies. Mission Alignment The coordinator plays a vital role in helping children grow in their faith, supporting families, and strengthening the church community through an intentional, joyful children's ministry. Compensation This is a non-exempt position, expected to work ten (10) hours per week. Any extra hours beyond ten (10) hours per week must be approved in advance by the Chair of the Christian Education Taskforce. Compensation is $8,000 for a nine-month period from September to early June. An additional $1,000 is given for coordinating Arts Camp during the summer. The Chair of the Board of Trustees, in consultation with the Pastor and Christian Education Taskforce, will conduct an annual evaluation.
