Ballet & Creative Dance Instructor (Part-Time) Pear Sky Theatre Sherman Oaks, CA Job Details Part-time $35 - $50 an hour 23 hours ago Qualifications Experience teaching visual & performing arts Behavior management Teamwork Teaching arts Working with students Working with youth Full Job Description Job Overview Pear Sky Theatre is seeking a passionate and professionally trained Ballet & Creative Dance Instructor to join our teaching faculty for our 2026-2027 founding season in Sherman Oaks, CA. Pear Sky Theatre is a pre-professional youth musical theatre conservatory program dedicated to developing confident, versatile young performers through interdisciplinary training in voice, acting, ballet, dance, and performance. This is a part-time, on-site position teaching Thursdays from 5:30-7:30 PM , beginning September 2026. The instructor will lead our weekly ballet and creative dance curriculum, helping young musical theatre performers build strong technical foundations while developing musicality, coordination, movement quality, creativity, and confidence. Our founding season begins with Disney's Frozen JR. Responsibilities Lead weekly ballet and creative dance instruction for young musical theatre performers Teach strong, safe, and age-appropriate classical ballet fundamentals Develop students' alignment, coordination, musicality, movement quality, and technical foundations Create engaging combinations and creative movement exercises appropriate to students' abilities Provide individualized, constructive, and encouraging corrections Adapt instruction for students with varying levels of previous dance experience Help students translate ballet technique into expressive theatrical movement Support choreography and movement preparation for theatrical productions as needed Maintain a disciplined, positive, and supportive classroom environment Collaborate with the Artistic Director and other teaching artists as part of an interdisciplinary musical theatre program Qualifications Strong classical ballet training and technical foundation Professional ballet/dance training required Previous experience teaching ballet or dance to children and/or teens Knowledge of safe, age-appropriate ballet technique, alignment, and conditioning Strong musicality and understanding of rhythm and phrasing Ability to demonstrate technique and communicate corrections clearly Strong classroom management and communication skills Experience in creative dance, musical theatre dance, contemporary, jazz, or choreography is a plus Professional performance experience is a plus Reliable, punctual, collaborative, and enthusiastic about working with young performers Degree, certification, conservatory training, or equivalent professional experience welcomed Schedule & Compensation Thursdays, 5:30-7:30 PM Sherman Oaks, CA 2 hours per week $35-$50 per hour, based on experience Additional paid rehearsal, choreography, or production opportunities may become available throughout the season.
