DEFY Studio & Wellness is a fitness and recovery studio built around the idea that wellness should be intentional, elevated, and accessible in one place. We offer small, instructor-led classes including Strength Training, Yoga, and Low-Impact Cardio alongside wellness and recovery services such as Red Light Therapy, Halotherapy (Salt Therapy), Infrared Sauna, Compression Therapy and other Restorative Offerings. Our goal is to provide a space where members of our community can move, recover, and reconnect with themselves without needing to visit multiple studios to support their full wellness routine. Position Summary:
The Dance Cardio (Move) Instructor leads high-energy, music-driven cardio and dance fitness classes designed to help participants improve cardiovascular fitness, coordination, and confidence while having fun. This role creates an engaging and motivating environment where clients of all experience levels feel encouraged to move, challenge themselves, and enjoy the workout. The instructor is responsible for delivering dynamic classes that combine movement, rhythm, and fitness while fostering a welcoming and supportive community atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead energetic, music-driven cardio and dance fitness classes for participants of varying experience levels. Demonstrate and clearly cue choreography and movements in a way that is easy for clients to follow. Provide movement modifications to ensure accessibility for different fitness levels and abilities. Create or follow structured class formats that balance cardio conditioning, coordination, and fun. Select appropriate music and maintain a motivating class atmosphere. Encourage participation and help build confidence in clients as they learn choreography and movement patterns. Monitor participants throughout class to promote safe movement and prevent injury. Maintain professionalism, punctuality, and preparedness for scheduled classes. Help maintain a clean, organized studio environment before and after class. Support studio events, community building, and occasional team meetings or trainings. Any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Nationally recognized fitness or movement-based instructor certification required. Fully certified instructors only; apprentice, trainee, junior, or provisional credentials will not be considered. Examples include ACE, AFAA, NASM, Yoga Alliance RYT, Balanced Body Pilates, Barre Above, Zumba®, or equivalent certifications. Certification must remain active throughout employment. CPR/AED certification (or willingness to obtain). Previous experience teaching group fitness, dance fitness, cardio dance, Zumba, or similar movement-based classes preferred. Strong rhythm, musicality, and ability to lead choreography confidently. Ability to clearly cue movements and engage a group environment. Energetic, outgoing personality with strong motivational skills. Passion for fitness, music, and helping people feel confident in movement. Reliable, professional, and comfortable working with participants of diverse fitness backgrounds. Availability for evenings, mornings, and/or weekend classes. Ability to open and / or close the studio independently. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Compensation & Benefits:
