Share Your Passion for Dance with the Edgewater Community! The City of Edgewater is looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Part-Time Dance Instructor to lead engaging dance programs for our community. This position offers the opportunity to teach one or more styles of dance, including (but not limited to): swing (East and/or West Coast), line dance, Salsa/Latin, ballroom, belly dance, and other styles based on your expertise. The instructor will have the flexibility to develop and teach classes for adults (18+) and/or older adults (55+), with a strong interest in intergenerational programming that brings all ages together through movement and music. Class format, curriculum, and scheduling will be determined collaboratively, taking into account the instructor's availability, experience, and community interest. We're seeking a creative, energetic, and reliable instructor who can create a welcoming, inclusive, and safe environment for all participants. This position may be structured as either a part-time employment opportunity or an independent contract, depending on the candidate's preference.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include, but are not limited to the following: Develop dynamic, progressive, and engaging dance curriculum based on expertise and skillset. Set up all equipment necessary in advance of the program start. Communicate effectively with registered participants. Communicate effectively with Programs Coordinator, including making recommendations for equipment purchases. Assist in marketing efforts to increase awareness of the program instructed and other programs offered by the City of Edgewater. Maintain a safe and inclusive environment for program participants. Maintain a positive attitude, take initiative, and work as a cohesive team with all staff members to ensure efficiency and camaraderie. Responds to accidents or incidents according to procedures. Effectively handles emergency situations involving fire alarms, CPR and First Aid. Upholds City and Department policies and procedures as well as applicable laws. Maintains regular and punctual attendance. Participates in all training(s) and staff meetings as required. Any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Programs Coordinator.BENEFITS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required. 1) Must have legal authorization to work in the United States of America. 2) Submit and pass a pre-employment background check. 3) Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age. 4) If contracting, the instructor must provide their own insurance. The City of Edgewater maintains a drug-free work environment. No employee shall report for duty impaired by or under the influence of alcohol or drugs to the slightest degree. Any employee who reports to work impaired by, under the influence of, or in possession of drugs or alcohol shall be relieved of their duties immediately and without pay. Employees are expected to use prescription or legal over-the-counter drugs in the proper manner and dosage and are expected to know whether even the proper use of such drugs may impair their ability to perform their job safely and competently.EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Basic verbal and written English language skills and grammar to reasonably communicate information with the public and/or complete relevant written documentation required by job activities. Spanish language skills preferred. Excellent communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills. The ability to perform multiple functions at once and the ability to handle the public in a friendly and professional manner.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must possess or be able to obtain First Aid, CPR and AED Certification. OTHER SKILLS andABILITIES
Prior experience teaching community-based dance programs - preferred. Previous experience working with adults and/or older adults - preferred. Comprehensive knowledge of a specific skill or knowledge that has the potential to design a program around. The patience and demeanor required to work varying personalities and abilities. Outstanding customer service and interpersonal communication skills, to maintain effective working relationships with citizens, elected officials, appointing authorities, department heads, appointed boards, employees, and volunteers.
