Share your passion for skating and help others build confidence on the ice! Join Boise Parks and Recreation as a Senior Ice Skating Instructor, where you'll teach youth and adults in a fun, supportive, and safe environment. Whether you're introducing beginners to the basics or helping skaters refine their skills, you'll create engaging lessons that make learning on the ice enjoyable for participants of all ages. If you love teaching and inspiring others, this is your chance to make a lasting impact both on and off the rink. This position is open to applicants 18 years of age or older. Required Knowledge, Experience, And Training Must be 18 years of age or older. Must be a U.S. Figure Skating Registered Coach through a recognized figure skating club or as an individual. Must complete CER Class C within six month of date of hire. Must have a minimum of 5 years teaching experience within a U.S. Figure Skating Basic Skill Program or ISI weSKATE program. Licensing And Other Requirements U.S. Figure Skating Registered Coach Membership Special Requirements Applicants must be able to pass: City of Boise background check processes which includes a criminal history check and reference checks in accordance with the City of Boise Hiring Process Regulation Provides ice skating instructions and advice for groups. Ensures a safe and effective learning environment for all participants. Answers questions from participants and parents as required in accordance with City of Boise Policies and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned. Nothing in this job description restricts management's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this position at any time.
Knowledge of:
Ice skating techniques. General customer service standards.
Ability to:
Maintain good relations with parents and players; display an attitude of cooperation and work harmoniously with all levels of City employees, the general public and other organizations. Communicate effectively in the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance. Complete assignments in a timely fashion. Understand and comply with all rules, policies and regulations. Maintain prompt and regular attendance. Perform all essential and marginal functions as assigned by an authorized employee, supervisor and/or manager with or without a reasonable accommodation. Physical Efforts While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds and rarely lifting/carrying up to 20 pounds. Also, the employee is frequently pushing/pulling up to 10 pounds. The noise level is occasionally moderate and rarely loud. Work includes sensory ability to talk, hear and touch. Work in this position also includes close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception. Employees will sit, stand, walk and runn.
Additional physical efforts include:
incumbent will be frequently skating on ice.. Working Environment The work environment will include inside conditions, outdoor weather conditions, extreme temperatures and in wet and humid conditions. Work includes protected exposure to bodily fluids.
This position works:
evenings and weekends.
