Job Description

Job Overview Located on over a mile of beautiful Sebago Lakes shoreline in Maine, Wohelo is one of New England's oldest girls' traditional summer camps. www.wohelo.com Family owned and run since 1907, the staff at Wohelo are dedicated to creating a fun and nurturing learning environment. Currently seeking women 18 and over to spend eight weeks living in cabins with campers and assisting or directing activities such as: swimming sailing canoeing waterskiing tennis crafts drama dance archery nature/ecology Many counselors are returning from their days as a camper at Wohelo so there is a lot of tradition carried along from year to year. We also have a handful of both international and Americans who are joining us for their first summer bringing new perspectives and skills. One of the most special things about working at Wohelo is the intense bond made within the counselor group based on the common goal for us to be our best so that our campers will want to be their best as well. Over half of the campers are coming to camp as second, third, and fourth generation campers! Campers range in age from 6-12 and stay for a 3.5 or 7 week session. Cabins are mostly located along the shoreline and without electricity. Campers and counselors fall asleep to the sound of the waves lapping against the shore. Bathrooms are a short walk away. We value enthusiasm and a genuine interest in children. Precamp staff training and counselor meetings throughout the summer allow for a summer full of growth and learning for everyone. Duties Assist and/or lead camp activities that are listed above Maintain a safe environment by supervising campers Utilize positive behavior management to promote thoughtfulness, cooperation, and enthusiasm Support campers' emotional well-being through genuine interest and connection with campers, active listening, and encouragement Work together with counselors to teach and organize activites and help create a supportive cabin environment Act as the trusted adult role model for campers Requirements Genuine interest in being with and helping children Training happens on sight
Pay:
$1,150.00 - $1,600.00 per month
