Edgewood Middle School, Chippewa Middle School, Highview Middle School Job Summary:
Ability to positively interact and build relationships with high school aged (14-18 year old) students of diverse backgrounds, while coaching them fundamental and advanced Ultimate skills. Give every player equal attention regardless of skill level. Must be familiar with ultimate rules, regulations, terminology, and gameplay. Essential job functions include the following: Teach Ultimate skills and game strategies including: Defense (person and zone) A variety of offensive formations A variety of throwing/catching techniques Fitness drills Instruct players in the rules, regulations, and technique of the sport. Organize daily practices and game plans. Emphasize team work, good sportsmanship and appropriate sports participant behaviors. Models appropriate behavior towards players, officials and spectators. Provide a supportive environment during practices and games. Track participant attendance during practices and games, including ensuring parent pick-up for participants. Maintaining the care of athletic equipment and proper storage. Assist in team administrative responsibilities if needed. Attend team and program planning meetings as needed.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:
Previous experience working with high school students. Previous experience playing Ultimate. Previous coaching experience. Ability to teach basic to advanced fundamentals and skills during practices and games (defense, offense, scoring, and throwing/catching techniques, fitness) Maintaining the care of athletic equipment and proper storage.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.
