In this role, you will lead dynamic jazz dance classes, fostering technical skill development, artistic expression, and confidence among diverse learners. Your expertise will help students elevate their dancing abilities while cultivating a positive, engaging classroom environment that encourages creativity and growth. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to share your love of dance and influence aspiring performers of all ages. Responsibilities Design and implement comprehensive jazz dance curricula tailored to intermediate and advanced skill levels, incorporating elements of rhythm, technique, improvisation, and performance. Lead engaging dance classes that motivate students to improve their technical skills while emphasizing musicality, style, and personal expression. Manage classroom dynamics effectively by applying behavior management strategies and creating a respectful, inclusive environment for students of various backgrounds. Provide individualized feedback and tutoring to help students overcome challenges and achieve their dance goals. Incorporate knowledge of related disciplines such as ballet, theater, or choreography to enrich lesson content and performance quality. Prepare students for performances or showcases by guiding rehearsals, staging routines, and developing stage presence. Maintain detailed lesson plans, progress records, and assessments to track student development over time. Requirements Proven experience teaching jazz dance at intermediate or advanced levels with a strong portfolio demonstrating technical proficiency and artistic versatility. Solid understanding of curriculum development tailored to different age groups including children, teens, or adults. Classroom management skills that foster discipline while encouraging creativity and self-expression. Experience working with children, early childhood education or preschool settings is a plus; familiarity with special education or behavior management strategies is desirable. Knowledge of ballet, theater arts, choreography, or related disciplines that enhance jazz dance instruction. Ability to develop engaging lesson plans that incorporate music theory, movement techniques, and performance skills. Strong communication skills for working with students of varying ages and backgrounds; experience in tutoring or personalized coaching is advantageous. Additional skills such as photography, sewing (for costume design), culinary arts (for event planning), or childcare experience can be valuable assets in creating a well-rounded teaching approach.
