A Dance Teacher teaches students in dance movement and choreography. Usually requires previous dance experience. Teaches a variety of dancing styles to individuals or groups of students. Styles may include ballet, tap, hip-hop, ballroom, jazz, lyrical or modern.

This position will need someone who works well with children and is adaptable to various age groups.
EDUCATION
:
Required:
Currently in High School or have attained High School Degree or
GED. CERTIFICATION
: First Aid and CPR Certification (or obtained within 90 days.) USAG Certified for recreational or competitive coach (or obtained within 90 days.)
EXPERIENCE
:
Required:
Six (6) months of dance experience. Establish clear rules and expectations of the program with students. Maintain order and structure during class. Be actively engaged and involved with students each day. Be flexible with lesson plan and activity changes. Ensure space is safe for children. Train assistants to spot and lead classes. Formulate and follow a rotation schedule. Participate in and complete performance assessments/evaluations as assigned. Answer phones, emails, and help with registration as needed. Assist with class scheduling. Perform opening and closing procedures. Ensure station equipment is put away. Sanitize equipment in areas of high traffic. Ensure cleanliness of all spaces where students are present. Perform other related duties as required. Salary:
Amarillo College follows a lag pay strategy, with starting offers typically between the minimum and midpoint of the pay grade, rarely reaching the maximum to support long-term growth within each position. Pay grade 8 Amarillo College Pay Grades (salary is determined by Human Resources based on education, work experience and internal comparisons).
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to travel between offices and buildings, and requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull and/or maneuver office supplies as needed. Possess the ability to walk, bend, stand, squat or sit on the floor (with students). Be able to physically respond quickly in an emergency.
