We believe dance should build confidence, creativity, and a lifelong love of performing arts in a nurturing, encouraging environment. We are looking for an experienced Lead Dance Instructor to teach children primarily ages 4-10 during our fall and spring season. About the Role We are seeking someone who is energetic, dependable, and passionate about teaching young children. The ideal candidate has a strong jazz foundation and enjoys incorporating musicality, storytelling, and performance into the classroom. A background in musical theater or professional performance is highly preferred. Our goal is to create classes that are engaging, imaginative, and age-appropriate while helping every child grow in confidence and technique. Responsibilities Lead weekly dance classes for children ages 4-10. Teach jazz-based classes with age-appropriate technique and choreography. Create a fun, positive, and structured classroom environment. Foster confidence, creativity, teamwork, and a love of dance. Prepare choreography for performances and the annual recital. Communicate professionally with families when needed. Collaborate with the studio owner and teaching team. Arrive prepared, organized, and on time for each class. Qualifications Strong background in jazz dance (required). Background in musical theater, performance, or commercial dance strongly preferred. Previous experience teaching children, especially ages 4-10 . Ability to manage a classroom with kindness, enthusiasm, and confidence. Reliable, organized, and professional. Passion for inspiring young dancers in a positive, encouraging environment. Schedule Part-time position with teaching opportunities including: Weekday afternoons and evenings Occasional Saturday mornings Additional opportunities for camps, rehearsals, and special events Preferred Experience Jazz Dance Musical Theater Children's Dance Instruction Choreography Performance Experience CPR/First Aid certification (a plus) Why Dance With Joy?
