Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Principal, is responsible for facilitating the organization and implementation of the Debate Team. Specific responsibilities for this position are as described on the attached job description.
Special Duties/Responsibilities:
The Debate Advisor will lead and supervise the high school debate team, fostering student growth in critical thinking, research, communication and public speaking. The advisor will organize and conduct practices, prepare students for competition, and accompany the team to tournaments.
Duties include the following:
Grades 9-12, 1 meeting after school (2:30 p.m.) per week during debate season (Sept.
  • March); 5 weekend tournaments per year (Fridays 3 p.m.
  • 9 p.m., Saturday 8 a.m.
  • 8 p.
m.); National Qualifier tournament in late February or Early March (usually in Redmond); and State Tournament in mid-March (usually in Tacoma).

Education and Experience:
Ability to mentor, motivate and support students with varying levels of experience Valid teaching certificate strongly preferred If appropriate to the position, must have, or obtain, Authorization to Transport Students which includes holding current First Aid CPR certification
