Is responsible to direct the support of secondary programs with the aim of promoting quality education opportunities for all students of the district
Qualifications:
1. Valid Alaska Administrative Certificate required. 2. Three years of classroom teaching experience required. 3. Valid Alaska Teaching Certificate preferred. 4. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in written and oral form. 5. Willingness to live and work in a cross-cultural, rural Alaskan environment. 6. Willingness to travel to remote locations. 7. Alaska driver's license. 8. Ability to carry out successfully the duties described below.
Duties:
1. Provide direction for the development and the assurance of implementation of the district's secondary instructional plans of service, and district wide curriculum. 2. Provides direction for the development and continued effectiveness of all Career and Technical Education in the district. 3. Provides direction and oversight for all district distance education courses and ensures that all courses are delivered effectively. Provides direction and leadership for the design of new distance delivery courses and programs. 4. Supervises the district's guidance and counseling departments to ensure effective operation. 5. Supervises the registrar and transcripts operations for the district and implements current best practices. 6. Work closely with site administrators in a common effort to revise and implement the district's secondary instructional plans of service and core curriculum. 7. Coordinate and monitor the district's secondary academic programs. Provide technical support to site administrators and other administrative staff. 8. Assist with writing, submitting, and monitoring department-related grants. 9. Support and manage state and federal grants as they relate to the district's instructional program. 10. Integrate the district's testing programs into content area improvement. 11. Monitor the district's plans of service in accordance with state and district mandates. 12. Coordinates and evaluates appropriate department personnel. 13. Evaluates Site Administrators as directed. 14. Perform other duties as assigned.
