Job Description

The Harris School of Public Policy invites applications for a Senior Instructional Professor and Director of Analytics Degrees to manage and teach in a new Master's of Science Degree in Data Analytics and Policy (MSDAP). The position is open-rank and appointment as Assistant Senior Instructional Professor or as Associate Instructional Professor are possibilities depending on prior experience and qualifications. The primary responsibilities of this position involve the management of the new MSDAP degree and teaching in MSDAP and other Harris programs. The degree is designed to address the growing demand for professionals with expertise at the intersection of data analytics, machine learning, and public policy.
Responsibilities will include:
Oversee the MSDAP curriculum evolution, refinement, and course design, in collaboration with Harris faculty and administrative leadership. Teach 4-6 for-credit, quarter-length courses per academic year. Courses may be in the MSDAP and/or other degree programs offered by the School. Courseload may be reduced in the first one to two years of the program, given the expected intensity of program development during these years. Recommend for hire, supervise, and evaluate part-time Lecturers and full-time Instructional Professors who teach in the MSDAP or in other Harris courses related to data analytic topics. Design and oversee the execution of extra-curricular student experiences and career development in data analytics, collaborating with relevant Harris staff. Responsibilities for this role may expand to include leadership and instructional responsibilities within the MSCAPP program, as institutional and programmatic needs evolve. Salary range:
Assistant Senior Instructional Professor:
$140,000
  • $160,000
Associate Senior Instructional Professor:
$150,000
  • $175,000 The expected start date will be on or after August 1, 2026. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications
  • Completion of a graduate degree, by the appointment start date, in data science, computer science, statistics, economics, political science, or a closely related field.
  • At least two years of teaching experience as the instructor of record in courses in fields in data science, statistics, economics, political science, or related fields. Preferred Qualifications
  • PhD in data science, computer science, statistics, economics, political science, or a closely related field.
