Organizational Relationship of Line of Authority:
The Coach of Specialized Instruction reports directly to the Building Principal on all building-based procedural matters and collaborates closely with the Executive Director of Student Support Services.

Statement of Duties/Position Overview:
The Coach of Specialized Instruction serves as an instructional leader, supporting the professional growth and development of special education staff and general education teachers. In partnership with school and district leadership, this role promotes the implementation of high-quality, evidence-based instructional and behavioral practices to improve outcomes for students with disabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
(Including, but not limited to) Collaborate with the Principal and Special Education leadership to provide ongoing coaching, support, and professional development in: Implementation of district curriculum and IEPs, including adapting instruction for students with disabilities Compliance with Massachusetts DESE regulations and district procedures Application of evidence-based practices, including ABA and social-emotional learning strategies Provide direct, actionable feedback to teachers, with a focus on improving instructional practices in substantially separate and inclusive settings Model and support the implementation of research-based instructional and behavioral strategies Observe, coach, and monitor staff to ensure fidelity of implementation and continuous improvement Design and facilitate professional development aligned to district priorities and staff needs Support staff in developing and implementing lesson plans aligned to student IEP goals Consult with general education teachers on accommodations and modifications to ensure access to the general curriculum Serve as a resource to teachers and paraprofessionals for both academic and behavioral supports Participate in and support IEP and Student Support Team (SST) meetings, ensuring effective communication and follow-through Maintain and monitor compliance documentation, including: Developing and updating IEPs (goals, objectives, and service delivery) Managing student records within Frontline/eSped systems Collaborate with Special Education leadership to ensure accurate caseload management and scheduling Foster strong, positive relationships with staff, students, and families Provide classroom or program coverage as needed in the event of staffing shortages Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or Executive Director
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree preferred Valid Massachusetts DESE licensure in Moderate Disabilities (PreK-8) required Experience with Frontline/eSped systems preferred Demonstrated ability to write compliant, high-quality IEPs and lead effective IEP team meetings Experience with special education evaluations preferred Strong knowledge of standards-based curriculum, assessment, and differentiated instruction Proven ability to use data to inform instruction and improve student outcomes Experience with evidence-based practices, including ABA and inclusive instructional strategies Excellent collaboration, problem-solving, and communication skills Demonstrated leadership ability and commitment to continuous improvement Closing Date for Receipt of
