Smith Jewish Day School (CESJDS), where students with learning differences receive highly specialized support while fully participating in a rigorous, pluralistic independent Jewish day school environment. About the Program Grounded in the belief that every child belongs , Sulam@JDS integrates students with diverse learning profiles into mainstream classrooms, supported by a comprehensive and individualized model. The program is built on the framework of Universal Design for Learning (UDL)
  • an approach that proactively creates multiple pathways for engagement, understanding, and expression so that all students can access both challenge and support.
At Sulam@JDS, learning is holistic. Academic, social, emotional, and Jewish spiritual development are deeply interconnected, ensuring that each child feels safe, supported, and empowered to thrive . The current program serves students in grades K-5, with expanding enrollment for the coming academic year. The Opportunity The Director will lead all aspects of the Sulam@JDS program, ensuring excellence in student support, staff development, and program operations. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage a multidisciplinary team of educators and related service providers, including hiring, scheduling, and professional development Oversee day-to-day program operations, ensuring high-quality instruction across academic and support areas Design, implement, and monitor individualized student programs, including schedules, progress tracking, and data-driven instructional planning Support student growth across academic, social-emotional, behavioral, and executive functioning domains, including behavior plans and interventions Coordinate student services and documentation, including FEPs, evaluations, progress reports, and related services (e.g., speech, counseling) Collaborate with general education partners, families, outside providers, and faculty to support student success Partner with leadership and admissions on program development, candidate review, assessments, and placement decisions Who You Are You are a mission-driven leader who believes deeply in the power of inclusion and the potential of every child.
You bring:
A degree in Special Education (preferred) A minimum of 5 years of leadership experience Strong communication skills
  • both written and oral A collaborative, team-oriented approach The ability to lead with both head and heart Most importantly, you are someone who sees each child as an individual with unique strengths

Salary & Benefits Annual Salary:
