Job Description

Principal & Director of Curriculum and Instruction The Commercial Township School District is seeking an exceptional educational leader to serve as our Principal & Director of Curriculum and Instruction. Serving approximately 500 PK-8 students in a close-knit, one-school community, the district is committed to providing a safe, supportive, equitable, and academically rigorous environment where every student is empowered to achieve academic excellence, personal growth, and future success. We are seeking a highly effective and collaborative leader with strong experience in instructional leadership, curriculum development, staff supervision, data-driven decision-making, and school operations. The successful candidate will lead schoolwide initiatives focused on continuous improvement, support staff growth and accountability, oversee instructional and intervention programs, and ensure high expectations for teaching, learning, and student achievement for all learners. The ideal candidate will be a visible, hands-on administrator who values collaboration, builds strong relationships with students, staff, families, and the community, and fosters a culture of trust, respect, inclusivity, and shared responsibility. This leader will be committed to advancing innovative instructional practices, supporting diverse student needs, and preparing students to become confident, responsible, and future-ready learners and leaders.
OVERVIEW OF PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Leads schoolwide instructional improvement efforts focused on student achievement and academic growth.
  • Oversees curriculum development, implementation, assessment, and intervention programs aligned to district goals and the New Jersey Student Learning Standards.
  • Utilizes student achievement data to support instructional decision-making, intervention planning, and program evaluation.
  • Supervises and evaluates staff while supporting professional growth and instructional effectiveness.
  • Plans and facilitates professional development aligned to district initiatives, instructional priorities, and student needs.
  • Maintains a positive, welcoming, and student-centered school climate that supports academic, social, and emotional development.
  • Facilitates collaboration among staff and teacher teams to support district goals, curriculum implementation, and student success.
  • Establishes and maintains high expectations for teaching, learning, professionalism, and student conduct.
  • Oversees student discipline and ensures compliance with Board policies, administrative regulations, and due process requirements.
  • Supports intervention and services for students with academic, behavioral, or social-emotional needs.
  • Oversees school operations, scheduling, budgeting, reporting, and daily administrative functions.
  • Maintains a safe, secure, and supportive learning environment for students and staff.
  • Communicates and collaborates effectively with students, staff, families, community members, and district administration.
  • Collaborates with administrators and staff to support instructional programs, special education services, and schoolwide initiatives.
  • Participates in ongoing professional growth and supports continuous improvement efforts throughout the district.
  • Support the overall goals, mission, vision, and core values of the district.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Valid New Jersey Principal Certificate or Eligibility.
  • Minimum experience as determined by the board.
  • Demonstrated leadership in school improvement, program development, application of technology across the curriculum, curriculum development and implementation, program evaluation, staff professional development, and personnel management.
  • Ability to plan, organize and administer a school-level professional development program.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Required criminal history background check and proof of U.
S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.
Pay:
$90,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
