This is a unique opportunity to build an academic program from the ground up and play a pivotal role in establishing a high-quality online English language institute serving students overseas. The Founding Director of Academic Programs will provide strategic academic leadership and oversee the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of all English language programs. Our academy will deliver fully online, live instructor-led classes for students overseas and offer comprehensive English language education aligned with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR A1-C2), as well as preparation programs for internationally recognized English proficiency examinations, including IELTS, TOEFL, OET, and PTE. This position will initially begin as a paid 30-60 day consulting engagement , focused on developing the academic foundation of the institute. During this phase, the selected candidate will work closely with the Founder & CEO to establish the curriculum, academic policies, instructional standards, assessment framework, and faculty recruitment strategy. Upon successful completion of the consulting engagement, the candidate will have the opportunity to transition into a full-time Founding Director of Academic Programs role. Key Responsibilities Provide strategic leadership for all academic programs and educational initiatives. Design and oversee a comprehensive CEFR-aligned English language curriculum from A1 through C2. Develop high-quality preparation programs for IELTS, TOEFL, OET, and PTE. Create placement tests, course assessments, grading standards, and student progression pathways. Recruit, interview, onboard, mentor, and evaluate English language instructors. Establish academic policies, quality assurance standards, and instructional best practices. Ensure exceptional teaching quality and a consistent learning experience across all fully online programs. Develop instructor training materials and professional development initiatives. Recommend textbooks, digital learning resources, and instructional technologies. Collaborate with executive leadership to support strategic planning, program expansion, and long-term institutional growth. Monitor student performance and implement academic support strategies that promote student success. Develop systems that support future accreditation, institutional recognition, and academic excellence. Foster an engaging, inclusive, and culturally responsive online learning environment for students overseas. Qualifications Master's degree or higher in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, English, Education, Curriculum & Instruction, or a closely related field. Minimum of seven years of experience teaching English as a Second or Foreign Language (ESL/EFL). Demonstrated experience designing English language curricula and academic programs. Previous leadership experience supervising, mentoring, or managing English language instructors. Strong knowledge of the CEFR framework and adult language learning methodologies. Experience preparing students for one or more internationally recognized English proficiency examinations (IELTS, TOEFL, OET, or PTE). Experience delivering and managing online education programs using Learning Management Systems (LMS). Exceptional leadership, organizational, communication, and project management skills.
