PRIMARY PURPOSE:

\nTo supervise the district's English Language Arts Department. To improve the quality instruction and to\nsupervise the implementation and development district expectations in English Language Arts programs.\n

QUALIFICATIONS

EducationCertification:

\nMaster's degree from accredited university or college\nValid Texas teaching certificate in English, Reading, ELAR, or Core Subjects\nMid-Management Certification\n

Special KnowledgeSkills:

\nWorking knowledge curriculum and instruction K

Ability to evaluate instructional programs and teaching effectiveness\nAbility to manage budget and personnel\nAbility to interpret data, policy, and procedures\nAbility to plan, organize, and work with committees\nStrong communication, public relations and interpersonal skills\nProven ability to work with students, parents, subordinates, peers, and supervisors\nSpecific knowledge curriculum, instruction, TEKS and assessments for PK•Reading Languages Arts\n

Experience:

\nThree years in instructional leadershipsupervisory role, preferred\nAt least five years classroom teaching experience\n

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

\nInstructional . Examine data to determine current trends as a district, campus, and\nAnd Program grade level in English Language Arts (ELA).\nManagement\n. Communicate regularly with teachers and principals to determine current needs.\n. Work with teachers and teaching and learning coaches to analyze and\ncommunicate local and statenational assessment data.\n. Support Campus Improvement Plans.\n. Determine curriculum needs in ELA.\n. Supervise the development and distribution ELA curriculum.\n. Evaluate effectiveness curriculum documents and make adjustments based on\nstate data.\n. Communicate regularly with other administrators about ELA.\n. Facilitate and organize the selection instructional materials in cooperation with\ndistrict committees and Board expectations.\n. Coordinate the ELA instructional programs at all campuses.\n

Provide assistance in the procurement and placement suitable English\nLanguage Arts instructional materials.\nDemonstrate and monitor effective pedagogical best practices.\n. Support campus staff with planning and internalization using appropriate\ninstructional learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment.\n. Coordinate the HB Reading Academy professional development plan for the\ndistrict.\n. Supervise the K

literacy outreach program.

\nStudent Growth . Help campus staff prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for\nAnd Development individual student differences and needs.\n. Assist specialists, literacy coaches, and teachers in adapting and adjusting\ninstruction and curriculum to ensure the success students.\n. Assist teachers in creating a classroom environment conducive to\nlearning and appropriate to the physical and emotional development\nstudents.\nState District . Execute Board, administrative, and state policies in the area English\nPolicies Language Arts.\n. Follow all policies and procedures as outlined in the district's Board Policy Manual,\nthe district's Administrative Guidelines, and directives from the Central Office.\nAdministration . Establish and maintain an efficient system financial management\nAnd FiscalFacilities for English Language Arts.\nManagement\n. Oversee the efficient use all designated budgets.\nManagement and\nOrganization . Supervise English Language Arts district instructional staff.\nCommunication . Use acceptable communication skills to present information\naccurately and clearly.\n. Maintain a professional relationship with all colleagues.\n. Establish and maintain open lines communication between\ncampus staff and administrators.\n. Channel concerns expressed by teachers to the correct staff.\n. Consult regularly with the Chief Academics and Instruction, Director(s) of\nCurriculum and Instruction, special program directors, principals, instructional\nspecialist, teaching and learning coaches, and teachers.\nCommunity . Assist as liaison between English Language Arts and the community.\nand the community.\nProfessional . Organize and conduct professional development and training in the area of\nGrowth and responsibility.\n
