We bring world languages to life through immersive, play-based learning—and we're looking for an experienced Director of Studies to join our team. About the Role The Director of Studies plays a key leadership role in ensuring the quality, consistency, and success of Sponge programs. This position is ideal for an experienced language education professional who is passionate about early childhood learning, skilled in supporting and developing teachers, and committed to creating exceptional experiences for children and families. This is a 40 hours/week position that includes teacher supervision, curriculum development, parent communication, and program coordination across Sponge's language offerings. The role is predominantly remote and performed from a home office. Occasional travel to partner elementary schools and program locations throughout the Greater Seattle area is required for teacher observations, training, classroom support, and meetings. Key Responsibilities Create and manage teacher schedules to ensure appropriate staffing across programs Conduct regular teacher observations and provide coaching, feedback, and professional development Lead teacher onboarding, training, and ongoing support Communicate with parents via phone and email regarding student progress, program updates, and general inquiries Prepare and organize teacher materials and classroom resources Coordinate and prepare materials for summer camps and seasonal programs Develop, maintain, and improve Sponge's curriculum and instructional materials Ensure programs are delivered with high quality, consistency, and alignment with Sponge's educational philosophy Collaborate with teachers and leadership to continuously improve the student and family experience Support a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment for students and staff Required Qualifications Previous experience as a Teacher Director, Academic Director, Lead Teacher, or similar leadership role within a children's language school or immersion program Fluency in Spanish, Mandarin, French, or Japanese Experience observing, mentoring, and coaching teachers Strong understanding of early childhood and elementary language acquisition Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities Proficiency with email, scheduling tools, and basic digital platforms Preferred Qualifications Experience as a Director of Studies (DoS) in a children's ESL or language education program Experience developing or adapting language curricula and educational materials Experience working with children ages 0-10 years old Background in education, linguistics, childhood development, or a related field Strong cultural competency and ability to integrate cultural learning into language instruction Why Join Sponge?
