We are dedicated to fostering a lifelong love of music by delivering engaging, inclusive, and sequential music instruction during and after school. Our experienced teachers work in a supportive, collaborative environment designed to make music accessible to every child, regardless of background. You Are an experienced dancer and/or musical theater teacher who believes that music education should be for all students, not just those who can afford it Have a minimum of 1-2 years of experience teaching large groups of students in grades K-5 Enjoy working with young children Have experience working in diverse communities Are a go-getter and you're passionate about teaching Want to join a fantastic team of teachers! The Position This part time position is approximately 4 hours per week during the school year and summer with the possibility of additional hours pending funding. Classes meet after school at 2 schools in Menlo Park and Redwood City on mutually agreed upon days. Classes occur between 3:15-5:30 on mutually agreed upon days and times Responsibilities For this position, using appropriate child friendly music and age appropriate moves, to teach folklórico, hip hop, jazz dance, modern dance or Musical Theater Ability to teach a group of beginning students in grades K-5 Develop and prepare lesson plans that engage, encourage, and motivate students Provide a creative and fun environment A variety of dance/musical theater styles may be introduced at the teacher's discretion.
Group Teaching:
1-2 years of experience leading music classes with 15+ children at once.
Classroom Management:
Proven ability to manage behavior and keep large groups of kids engaged.
Curriculum Design:
Experience planning weekly classes for elementary grade levels. This position reports to the Program Director Required Music Degree or equivalent • If you have experience teaching without a formal degree, please apply anyway! At least 1-2 years of experience teaching dance particularly Folklórico, hip hop, or jazz dance or musical theater Reliable transportation Punctuality Dependability Attention to detail Extremely organized Some additional days for performances will be required Excellent classroom management Access to a device to play music (phone or device with external speaker)
No Private Lessons Only:
One-on-one studio teaching experience does not qualify for this role.
No Solo Performers Only:
Gigging and stage performance experience do not replace classroom management skills. Additional Requirements MUST be available between 3:15-5:30 on at least 1-2 mutually agreed upon days and times during the week Upon hiring, candidate must successfully pass a comprehensive Criminal Background Check Eligibility to work in the United States Current TB test Proof of vaccination against

Spanish speaking a plus but not required
Salary:
