Dance & Musical Theater Teacher for Ages 2-8 (Part-Time) Seaside Arts Center San Diego, CA Job Details Part-time $20 - $35 an hour 2 days ago Qualifications Teaching visual & performing arts Relationship building (classroom management strategies) Classroom management Curriculum development Early childhood education Performing Arts Bachelor's degree Ballet Working with students Instructional adaptability Dancing Classroom experience Accommodations in instruction Teaching experience with young children Musical theater performance experience Classroom community building Teaching Early Childhood Education Specialization in creative arts instruction Full Job Description Seaside Arts Center is non-profit, multi-disciplinary arts school based in Carmel Valley teaching dance, music, theater, and visual arts to students of all ages, both on site and through enrichment programs at schools throughout San Diego. We are looking for an experienced Dance & Musical Theater Teacher, who will primarily work with students ages 2 - 8 years, teaching Early Childhood Musical Theater, Pre-Ballet, Ballet 1, and Jazz 1 to our youngest learners, and classes will primarily take place on Sundays from 10:30-12:45, and Tuesdays from 9:30-11:30. As a growing studio, for the right person, there is room for this role to grow to include additional classes, events, and school break camps. Work will commence with our fall semester, which begins on Sunday, August 16, 2026, and runs through December 13, with performances during the final weekend.
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement a comprehensive performing arts curriculum, inline with Seaside's overall values, mission, and semester themes. Teach various performing arts disciplines as outlined in the hiring process. Organize and choreograph student pieces for performances. Encourage students to explore and develop their artistic talents. Maintain accurate records of student attendance and progress and communicate these with Seaside Admin regularly. Manage classroom behavior and ensure a safe learning environment. Foster a positive and inclusive classroom culture. Perform other duties as assigned by the school administration.
Requirements:
A love of children and a positive attitude as well as passion for the arts and education. Proven experience teaching performing arts to students of various ages and skill levels. Strong knowledge of drama, music, and/or dance techniques and pedagogy. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive classroom culture. Ability to manage classroom behavior effectively, adapting instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners. Reliable transportation with current car insurance DOJ/FBI background check will be done for this position. Bachelor's degree in Performing Arts, Education, or a related field preferred.
