About the Role Kids On Stage is looking for experienced teaching artists to join our roster of substitute and part-time instructors for youth musical theater, acting, creative dramatics, and performing arts classes. This position is best suited for instructors who enjoy working with children and teens, are confident leading a classroom, and are available to teach in Santa Monica and nearby Westside Los Angeles locations. We are especially interested in candidates who can support regular classes, substitute teaching needs, private coaching, and summer camp programming. Prior experience teaching theater or musical theater to young students is required.
- Teaching Locations Classes may take place in: Santa Monica Marina del Rey West Los Angeles and nearby Westside areas Reliable transportation is required, as instructors may be assigned to different locations depending on program needs.
Summer camp substitute availability is strongly preferred, especially beginning in June for daytime programming in Santa Monica, typically between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM .
- About Kids On Stage Kids On Stage is a performing arts program for children and teens, serving families since 1987. Our programs include musical theater classes, camps, private coaching, special events, and performance-based training. Our goal is to help young performers build confidence, creativity, teamwork, communication skills, and stage experience in a supportive and engaging environment.
- What You May Teach Depending on your background, you may teach or assist with: Musical theater classes Acting, singing, and choreography Creative dramatics Audition preparation Private acting or vocal coaching Improv Speech and debate Shakespeare Voice acting or voice-over Confidence-building performance work Please include any specialties in your application.
- Responsibilities Instructors are expected to: Lead engaging performing arts classes for children and teens Create a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment Support students of different skill levels and personalities Teach acting, movement, music, theater games, or choreography as appropriate Communicate professionally with students, parents, and staff Arrive prepared, on time, and ready to teach Follow program expectations and lesson goals Adapt quickly when substitute teaching or assisting another instructor Help students build confidence, creativity, and performance skills•Requirements Please apply only if you meet the following qualifications: At least 2 years of experience teaching children or teens in theater, musical theater, acting, voice, dance, or a related performing arts field Comfortable working with students ages 4-18 Strong classroom management skills Clear and professional communication style Energetic, dependable, and organized Able to commute reliably to Santa Monica and nearby Westside LA locations Reliable transportation required Eligible to work in the United States Able to commit for at least one year Willing to complete Live Scan fingerprinting and TB testing upon hiring Piano skills are helpful but not required.

- Schedule & Compensation This is a part-time, in-person position with variable hours.
Opportunities may include substitute teaching, recurring classes, camps, coaching, and special programs.
Pay range:
$30
- 35 per hour Some virtual coaching opportunities may be available, but most work is in person.
