Weekend Musical Theatre Teacher Location:
Building Kidz of South San Francisco - Grand Avenue Are you passionate about musical theatre and love introducing young children to the excitement of performing? We're looking for an enthusiastic and engaging Musical Theatre Teacher to lead weekend classes as part of our Building Excellence Performing Arts Program at Building Kidz of South San Francisco on Grand Avenue. We hope to offer classes on either Saturdays or Sundays for children approximately 4-7 years old . Classes will run in 3-month sessions and will introduce young performers to the fundamentals of musical theatre through singing, acting, movement, storytelling, and performance . What You'll Be Teaching Our musical theatre classes are designed to help young children build confidence, creativity, and foundational performance skills in a fun and supportive environment.
Classes may include:
Age-appropriate vocal exercises and musical theatre songs Acting, character development, and imaginative play Basic choreography and stage movement Storytelling and ensemble-building activities Combining singing, acting, and movement into musical theatre scenes and numbers Rehearsing material toward a culminating performance for families We welcome the instructor's creative input and want the curriculum to reflect their strengths and experience while remaining developmentally appropriate for young children. Each session will work toward a small musical theatre showcase or performance highlighting what students have learned. Responsibilities Teach engaging musical theatre classes for children ages 4-7 Lead students in singing, acting, movement, and basic choreography Develop age-appropriate lesson plans and rehearsal activities Prepare students for a culminating musical theatre performance or showcase Create a warm, energetic, and supportive classroom environment Use strong classroom management strategies appropriate for young children Collaborate with the Performing Arts Director to ensure alignment with program goals Requirements Minimum 1-2 years of teaching experience in musical theatre, theatre, music, dance, or performing arts Experience working with young children in an educational or performance setting Comfortable teaching and leading singing, acting, and movement Experience rehearsing or directing children's performances preferred Strong classroom management and communication skills Energetic, engaging teaching style and a genuine love of working with young performers Reliable transportation to our South San Francisco location Must pass background/fingerprint check, TB test, and physical exam Available to teach on weekends (Saturday and/or Sunday) Compensation $45-$60 per hour , depending on experience, education, and level of expertise.
