Principal, Director of Curriculum & InstructionJob Summary The ideal candidate must have strong subject-matter expertise in theater arts and drama, effective communication skills, strong classroom management, and the ability to engage students through creative and inclusive instruction. The candidate will prepare and execute lesson plans that reflect thoughtful planning and a deep understanding of theater education. Experience in directing student performances and integrating theater into the broader school culture is highly desirable.

Role and ResponsibilitiesPlan and implement rigorous and engaging lessons aligned with theater standards and best practicesTeach 56 sections of theater-related courses (e.g., Introduction to Theater, Acting, Theater Production, Script Analysis)Direct at least one major school production annually, such as a fall play or spring musicalFoster a classroom culture built on respect, collaboration, and a passion for the performing artsUtilize varied instructional strategies, including project-based learning and performance assessmentsCommunicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues to support student learning and growthSupport the Catholic identity and mission of the school through values-based instructionParticipate in the broader life of the school, including assemblies, student activities, and service projectsAttend faculty meetings and engage in professional developmentOther duties as assignedQualificationsExperience teaching theater or performing arts in a high school or comparable educational settingCertification to teach in DC, MD, or VA, or willingness to become certified within three yearsStrong communication and organizational skillsAbility to direct student performances and manage theater productionsCommitment to inclusive teaching practices and meeting the needs of diverse learnersCollaborative mindset and a passion for working in a mission-driven school environment
Minimum Educational Requirements:
Bachelors degree in Theater, Performing Arts, Education, or a related field, with a commitment to social justice and working with high school students
Minimum Experience Requirements:
Prior teaching experience is preferred. Directing or managing theater productions is a strong asset. Teachers must be certified within three years of hire.
Other Requirements:
The candidate should demonstrate a knowledge of the Catholic faith, values, and educational mission of the Archdiocese of Washington and Archbishop Carroll High School.

The ideal candidate will possess a positive and collaborative approach, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to thrive in a diverse and multicultural learning environment.
