POSITION OVERVIEW
Morehouse Parish School District is seeking a passionate and creative High School Music & Fine Arts Teacher to enhance student achievement and engagement at Bastrop High School, a Title I campus committed to equity and whole-child development. The ideal candidate will deliver standards-aligned arts instruction, cultivate student talent, and build a vibrant arts program that fosters creativity, discipline, collaboration, and cultural appreciation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Deliver standards-aligned instruction based on Louisiana Arts Standards Plan and implement engaging lessons in band, choir, and performing arts Develop student skills in music theory and performance Organize and direct performances and school/community events Promote creativity, collaboration, and cultural appreciation Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learner needs Maintain an inclusive and structured classroom environment aligned with PBIS Integrate technology and multimedia tools Manage instruments and equipment Collaborate with staff through PLCs Ensure compliance with FERPA, IDEA, Section 504 Engage families and the community
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution Valid Louisiana Teaching Certificate in Music, Fine Arts, or related area or eligibility through LDOE Knowledge of Louisiana Arts Standards Strong skills in classroom management and instruction Ability to teach instrumental or vocal music Understanding of education laws (FERPA, IDEA, Section 504) Proficiency with technology Strong communication and collaboration skills Commitment to student success and equity Documentation required if enrolled in Teacher Preparation Program
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in Music, Fine Arts, or related field 1-3 years teaching experience at secondary level Experience directing band or choir programs Experience in Title I or diverse settings Ability to lead performances and extracurricular activities Experience supporting diverse learners Participation in PLCs or collaborative teams
