Job Description

Job Description:
Brookline High School is seeking a Visual Arts teacher with expertise in teaching foundation level through advanced coursework in drawing, painting, and printmaking. The teacher will be responsible for organizing and maintaining a safe classroom learning environment, ensuring the curriculum is aligned with the Public Schools of Brookline Visual Arts Learning Expectations and values of Equity and Inclusion. The teacher will help students develop the artistic habits of mind that will allow them to find and express their artistic voice. The ideal candidate would be well-versed in a variety of studio materials and methods as well as having experience with guiding students in the development of their artistic practice. Duties include, but are not limited to: Creating developmentally appropriate challenges, instruction, and processes that require strong habits of mind, support diverse learning styles, and provide opportunities for students to work independently and collaboratively Maintaining a safe and efficient studio space, including the operation of all necessary machines, tools, and equipment. Completing student assessments/evaluations, feedback, and related reporting as required of teachers as mandated reporters. Professional participation in the greater school community through meetings and duties as assigned.
Requirements Qualifications:
Highly qualified visual arts educator with strong studio skills Well-developed understanding of the art-making processes, qualities, and techniques for teaching a vertically aligned curriculum from foundations to advanced level work in a Gr. 9-12 visual arts program Thorough knowledge of how diverse learners acquire and develop an understanding of the visual arts Ability to reflect on personal learning through the analysis of one's teaching practice, student learning data, and the teaching practices of others Ability to be open to constructive critique of supervisors, administrators, and colleagues Ability to collaborate with all faculty Bachelor's Degree DESE certification in Visual Arts, 9-12
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree Experience teaching Studio Habits of Mind Experience teaching drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, and/or handcrafted work in a variety of materials.
