Target Start:
Mid-September About Jersey Improv Lab Jersey Improv Lab creates beginner-friendly, low-pressure improv and comedy programs in Hoboken and Jersey City. Our adult improv workshops have grown quickly, and we are now exploring a kids improv program designed to help young students build confidence, creativity, listening skills, and comfort expressing themselves. We believe improv should feel playful, supportive, and accessible. For kids especially, the goal is not to create "performers" overnight. It is to give students a fun space to collaborate, use their imagination, practice being present, and build social confidence through games, storytelling, and creative play. This would be an initial pilot program with the goal of growing into recurring kids programming if the first run goes well. The Role We're looking for a warm, experienced kids improv instructor to help design and lead an introductory improv workshop for children, likely ages 7-10 . This is a facilitation-forward teaching role for someone who enjoys working with kids and understands how to create structure, safety, and fun in the classroom. Students may have little to no prior theater or improv experience. The instructor should be comfortable leading age-appropriate improv games, storytelling exercises, group activities, and creative play while keeping the class organized, inclusive, and engaging. We are especially interested in someone who can collaborate with us on shaping the pilot program, including input on age range, class structure, pacing, curriculum, and the final student showcase. Initial Class Details Approximately 8-week kids improv workshop Likely age range: 7-10 1 to 2 hour classes Possible timing: weekday 4-5 PM or weekend 11 AM-12 PM Small group format, likely capped at 10-12 students
