Part-Time Description:
Hofstra College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is pleased to invite applications for a non-tenure-track Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Drama and Dance at Hofstra University. The Department of Drama and Dance welcomes applications in the areas of makeup and costume construction, with additional background in scenic and costume design preferred. The Department of Drama and Dance seeks to stimulate the imagination of our students; to motivate them to understand their strengths and weaknesses, and to encourage self-confidence and clarity in life goals. We work to enfold our students into, and instill in them, a respect for the long tradition of theatre, dance, entertainment, and the arts, in order to better serve the enrichment of contemporary society. We provide specific training of skill in the execution and disciplines of the various forms of theatre and dance. The Department of Drama and Dance produces six plays and two dance concerts annually and seeks a colleague who will collaborate closely with our Design & Production faculty. Candidates with additional expertise in wigs and makeup are especially welcome. The Adjunct Assistant Professor of Drama's responsibilities will include teaching: Theater Design Fundamentals Stage Makeup Costume Construction Potential additional design assignments may be available dependent on candidate's portfolio
Qualifications:
MFA in Theater Design (costumes or scenery), or equivalent terminal degree. Demonstrated professional ability in theatrical design, costume construction, and makeup. College-level teaching experience. Successful candidates will have demonstrated a commitment to promoting an inclusive educational environment.
