Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Daycare Driver to ensure the safe and reliable transportation of children to and from daycare facilities. This vital role combines responsible driving with compassionate childcare, providing peace of mind to families and fostering a positive experience for young children. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills, mechanical knowledge, and a strong commitment to safety and customer service. As a Daycare Driver, you will play a crucial part in supporting families by delivering dependable transportation services in a friendly and professional manner. Responsibilities Safely operate various types of vehicles including school buses, paratransit vans, and other commercial vehicles to transport children to scheduled destinations. Conduct thorough vehicle inspections before and after each trip to ensure safety standards are met, including checking mechanical functions and safety equipment. Follow all traffic laws, safety protocols, and company policies while driving in urban, suburban, or rural areas. Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, daycare staff, and children to coordinate pick-up and drop-off times, address concerns, and provide updates as needed. Manage behavior on the bus or vehicle by applying behavior management techniques to maintain a calm and safe environment for children. Assist with loading and unloading children safely, ensuring proper use of child safety seats or harnesses when required. Maintain accurate records of routes driven, mileage, vehicle maintenance needs, and incident reports when necessary. Experience Proven experience in bus driving, commercial driving, or school bus driving with a valid driver's license appropriate for the vehicle type. Familiarity with paratransit services or senior care transportation is a plus. Strong communication skills in English; bilingual abilities are highly desirable for effective interaction with diverse communities. Knowledge of vehicle mechanics and basic troubleshooting to perform routine inspections or minor repairs. Experience working with children or in childcare settings demonstrates patience and understanding of child behavior management techniques. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to handle sensitive situations professionally. Prior training or certification related to driving safety, behavior management, or teaching is advantageous but not required.
