Job Description

R.A.D. Camps is hiring a Summer Camp Teacher and Youth Program Guide for the 2026 summer season in Bend, Oregon. This is a full-time seasonal role for someone who can bring the structure of a teacher, the energy of a camp guide, and the judgment needed to keep kids safe during active summer days. Guides support R.A.D. Camps programs through outdoor exploration, campus-based activities, transitions, extended care, van and route systems, parent communication, and daily camp operations. This is not passive supervision. It is professional youth leadership in a mission-driven, screen-free summer program. Why this role is strong
  • Paid pre-season training is included.
  • CPR and First Aid certification are required by the start of camp and will be provided through pre-season training if needed.
  • Training includes R.A.D. culture, safety expectations, child protection, van safety and route systems, risk management, emergency procedures, group management, behavior support, parent communication, Leave No Trace, and site-specific program systems.
  • You will build real teaching, outdoor leadership, youth-program, risk management, and parent communication skills.
  • You will work with a supportive team that takes safety, kids, families, and good systems seriously. What you'll do
  • Lead and support engaging indoor, outdoor, and hybrid activities for R.A.D. Camps groups.
  • Facilitate games, art, maker projects, eco-science, storytelling, movement, group challenges, nature-based activities, and screen-free camp programming.
  • Support R.A.D. Studio, R.A.D. Sprouts, extended care, transitions, and cross-program coverage as needed.
  • Help campers with routines, gear, lunch and snack flow, emotional regulation, inclusion, and positive group culture.
  • Drive or ride in R.A.D. vehicles when assigned and follow van safety, route, and transportation systems.
  • Keep campers safe, engaged, included, and supported throughout active summer days.
  • Communicate professionally with parents, teammates, and leadership.
  • Help with setup, cleanup, supplies, rosters, materials, vehicles, documentation, and daily logistics.
  • Follow R.A.D. systems for safety, communication, documentation, and daily program operations. Must-haves
  • At least 21 years old.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Comfortable driving R.A.D. vehicles and transporting campers safely when assigned.
  • Able to pass a background check before employment.
  • Available for paid staff training June 12-14, 2026.
  • Strong availability for the core summer season, June 15-August 28, 2026.
  • CPR and First Aid certified by the start of camp, or completed through pre-season training.
  • Experience working with children or youth in camp, education, preschool, childcare, recreation, outdoor programs, classroom, nannying, coaching, guiding, or similar settings.
  • Professionalism, punctuality, reliability, emotional maturity, and strong communication skills.
  • Physically able to work active summer days indoors and outdoors, lift and move supplies, and participate in camp activities. Nice-to-haves
  • Camp, teaching, paraeducator, preschool, coaching, outdoor education, makerspace, art, project-based learning, or youth leadership experience.
  • Early childhood education experience or coursework.
  • Experience supporting emotional regulation, transitions, group management, and behavior support.
  • Experience with parent-facing communication in youth programs.
  • WFA, WFR, WEMT, lifeguard, CPR/First Aid, or similar medical or safety certifications. Schedule and season
  • Paid training: June 12-14, 2026.
  • Core season: June 15-August 28, 2026.
  • Full-time seasonal role expected at 40 hours per week.
  • Typical days are Monday-Friday, with staff shifts often around 7:15 AM-4:30 PM depending on program needs.
  • Some days may start earlier or run later depending on routes, pre-care, after-care, special programs, coverage needs, or staffing needs.
