Tillamook, OR College and Area Information Tillamook Bay Community College is located 85 miles west of Portland on the beautiful North Oregon Coast in Tillamook, Oregon; the county seat of Tillamook County. The County has a population of 26,000, and TBCC serves nearly 2,000 students per year. Tillamook, OR is the home of the famous Tillamook Creamery. Hiking, fishing, biking, and camping are a short car ride away. Tillamook County is nestled between the coast mountain range and the amazing Pacific Ocean, as well as many bays and rivers for fishing and water sports. Advanced EMT (AEMT) Course Instructor We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) Course Instructor to join our team. The instructor will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction to students preparing for certification as AEMTs. This role includes providing both didactic and hands-on training, ensuring students develop the advanced knowledge and clinical skills required to deliver prehospital emergency care in accordance with state and national standards. Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging, accurate, and current instruction aligned with the AEMT curriculum and applicable state and national standards.
  • Prepare and present lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on skills training in areas such as advanced airway management, IV/IO access, pharmacology, trauma care, cardiac emergencies, and patient assessment.
  • Conduct skills labs, simulations, and scenario-based training to ensure students demonstrate competency in advanced life-saving techniques.
  • Evaluate student performance through written exams, practical skills testing, and competency-based assessments (CBA), as applicable.
  • Provide constructive feedback, remediation, and guidance to support student success.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, performance, and course progression.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, safety standards, and current medical protocols.
  • Stay current with developments in prehospital care, EMS education standards, and instructional methodologies.
  • Serve as a mentor and professional role model, emphasizing ethical practice and high-quality patient care. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Assist students who may have difficulties in academic areas and assist in accessing referral resources.

  • Ability to work and interact with a high degree of professionalism. Minimum Qualifications
  • Licensure:
    Current Oregon EMS provider license at the AEMT level or higher (e.g., Paramedic, Physician Associate, Nurse Practitioner).
  • Experience:
    A minimum of three years of prehospital experience.
  • Instructor Training (must meet one of the following): oNational Association of EMS Educators (NAEMSE) Level 1 Instructor Course oNFPA Fire Instructor I certification oCompletion of 40 hours of the DPSST Instructor Development Program o Minimum of 3 college credits in adult education theory
  • Certifications: Current BLS Provider card (AHA or equivalent).
  • Orientation:
    Completion of orientation to competency-based assessment (CBA) principles if instructing in a CBA program for the first time. Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience teaching AEMT or higher-level EMS courses.
  • Experience with competency-based education and assessment models.
  • Familiarity with online or hybrid learning platforms.
  • Additional instructor certifications (e.g., ACLS, PALS, or instructor-level credentials).
  • Strong background in adult learning principles and student-centered instruction.
