Job Summary:

The Workforce Development (WFD) Instructor

• Automotive Technology Automotive Technology Instructors are per diem instructors hired to teach on an annual contract basis.

Develop and deliver Workforce Development course offerings specific to the Automotive Industry.

Minimum Qualifications:

5

• 7 years of experience in the Automotive industry as a Technician (or combination of education and experience).

Required certifications:

PA State Vehicle Safety and Emissions Inspection and NATEF. For inspection and emission classes, PennDOT instructor certification for inspection and emissions.

Licensing Requirements:

Please note that all teaching faculty are required to comply with PA Act 15. You will need to present completed clearances and training certificates at the time of hire.

Job Specific Task List:

Develop and deliver engaging classroom, laboratory, and hands-on instruction in automotive technology.

• (Essential) Teach fundamental and advanced automotive concepts, including vehicle systems, diagnostics, maintenance, repair, and safety practices.
• (Essential) Demonstrate proper use of automotive tools, equipment, diagnostic technology, and repair procedures
• (Essential) Provide students with opportunities to develop practical, industry-relevant skills through hands-on activities and demonstrations.
• (Essential) Assess student learning and provide timely feedback regarding technical skills, knowledge, and performance.
• (Essential) Maintain accurate attendance, assessment, and student progress records.
• (Essential) Ensure instructional activities comply with applicable safety standards, industry practices, and College policies.
• (Essential) Maintain a safe, organized, and professional learning environment.
• (Essential) Incorporate current automotive technology, industry trends, and employer expectations into instruction.
• (Essential) Collaborate with Workforce Development staff and industry partners to ensure training meets workforce and employer needs.
• (Essential) Assist with curriculum development and recommend updates based on changes in automotive technology and industry standards
• (Essential) Support students in developing employability skills, professionalism, communication, teamwork, and workplace safety.
• (Essential) Maintain current knowledge of automotive repair technologies, diagnostic systems, tools, and industry practices.
