This role combines classroom instruction, behind-the-wheel training, and performance assessment to prepare students for CDL testing and real-world driving. Key Responsibilities Deliver classroom instruction on CDL-related topics (FMCSA regulations, safety procedures, trip planning, logbooks, vehicle systems, and defensive driving) Provide behind-the-wheel training for commercial vehicles (e.g., Class A, B, or C as applicable) Demonstrate and coach proper driving techniques, backing maneuvers, coupling/uncoupling, and pre-trip inspections Evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedback Prepare students for written and road CDL exams Ensure all training meets FMCSA, state, and company standards Maintain accurate student records, attendance, and progress reports Promote a safety-first culture at all times Inspect training vehicles and report maintenance or safety concerns Stay current with CDL regulations, curriculum updates, and industry best practices Qualifications Valid Class A CDL Clean driving record (per company and regulatory standards) Minimum 3 years of commercial driving experience CDL Instructor certification
Endorsement :
Passenger / School Bus Strong knowledge of FMCSA and state DOT regulations Ability to pass background check and drug screening. Fluent in English and Spanish Preferred Skills & Attributes Prior teaching, coaching, or mentoring experience Strong communication and interpersonal skills Patience and professionalism when working with diverse learners Ability to assess skills and adapt teaching methods Strong attention to safety and compliance Basic computer skills for recordkeeping and reporting Physical Requirements Ability to climb in and out of commercial vehicles Ability to lift up to [50] pounds (as required) Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions Work Schedule Part-time /
