Snow College is seeking a qualified individual to serve as a Part-Time CDL Program Instructor/Assistant. This position will support the full-time CDL faculty member with classroom, driving-range, and behind-the-wheel instruction. The instructor/assistant will help students develop the knowledge, driving skills, and safety practices needed to earn a Commercial Driver's License and begin a career in the transportation industry. This position is based out of Snow College Richfield but may have occasional instructional assignments to work with students in the Delta, Nephi, and Ephraim areas. Minimum Qualifications A current and valid Commercial Driver's License appropriate for the vehicles used in the Snow College CDL program. Must be qualified to operate commercial vehicles with manual transmissions and have no "E" restriction on their CDL. Commercial driving experience and a safe driving history. Ability to meet all applicable Snow College, Utah, and federal requirements for CDL instruction and commercial vehicle operation. Current Department of Transportation medical certification, if required for assigned duties. Knowledge of commercial vehicle inspections and safe driving practices. Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively with students. Ability to maintain accurate records and follow program procedures. Ability to complete required background checks and employment screenings. Preferred Qualifications Previous CDL, driver, safety, or workplace training experience. Experience mentoring or supervising new commercial drivers. Familiarity with current CDL testing standards and Entry-Level Driver Training requirements. Experience in technical education or workforce training. Primary Responsibilities Assist with classroom, driving-range, and behind-the-wheel instruction. Teach and evaluate pre-trip inspections, backing, parking, coupling and uncoupling, vehicle control, and on-road driving. Reinforce safe driving practices and compliance with College, state, and federal requirements. Coordinate student driving schedules and provide individual or small-group practice. Monitor student progress and help prepare students for CDL examinations. Inspect and prepare program vehicles and equipment for instruction. Maintain student attendance, training, and skills-progression records. Work cooperatively with the full-time CDL instructor and Technical Programs administration. Perform other program-related duties as assigned. Schedule and Working Conditions This position will work up to 29 hours per week. The schedule may include daytime, evening, or occasional weekend hours based on program needs. The position requires working in classroom, driving-range, and on-road environments. The employee must be able to safely enter and exit commercial vehicles, sit for extended periods, inspect equipment, and work outdoors in changing weather conditions.
