Job Summary:
We are seeking a patient, safety-minded, and dependable Behind the Wheel Driving Instructor to join our team. This position is strictly for the practical, in-car portion of Virginia's driver education curriculum. You will not be responsible for classroom teaching. You will guide students through their mandatory 14-session in-car periods (7 driving, 7 observation), help them build practical road confidence, and administer the final Virginia DMV road skills exam.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct one-on-one, in-car practical driving instruction using company-provided training vehicles. Manage dual-control vehicle safety while actively teaching defensive driving, parking maneuvers, and highway safety. Oversee and document mandatory student observation periods. Maintain meticulous records of student hours via state-mandated logs (e.g., DTS forms). Administer the final Virginia road skills test to students at the end of their 14-period track.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Drivers Education Endorsement Required. Exceptional patience, calm demeanor under pressure, and strong communication skills. Flexibility to work peak student hours (afternoons, evenings, and weekends).
