Job Description

Join our team at The Goddard School - Leesburg, VA, where we provide a premium early childhood education experience in a safe, nurturing, and dynamic environment. This dual role combines classroom support as a Resource Teacher/Floater with transportation responsibilities as a Bus Driver for our After School Program. Role Summary This position serves two key functions: Bus Driver (approx. 1 hour/day): Drive the school van to pick up children from local elementary schools and return them safely to The Goddard School. This round-trip route runs each school day afternoon. Resource Teacher / Floater (remaining hours): Support teaching and childcare across multiple classrooms as needed, filling in where faculty coverage is required throughout the day. Responsibilities Transportation:
Safely operate the school vehicle on the daily after school pickup route (approx. 1 hour round-trip). Ensure all children are properly secured and accounted for during transport. Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections per safety requirements. Maintain accurate transportation logs and comply with all applicable traffic laws and school policies. Communicate promptly with school leadership regarding any route changes, delays, or incidents.
Classroom Support:
Establish and maintain a safe, healthy, and nurturing learning environment. Support children's social and emotional development across age groups. Assist lead teachers with instructional activities, transitions, and daily routines. Build positive, professional relationships with families. Collaborate with the full faculty team and adapt to classroom needs as assigned. Qualifications Required Valid Virginia driver's license with a clean driving record. CDL or eligibility to obtain one may be required depending on vehicle type (school will provide guidance). Ability to pass a background check, including driving record review. Demonstrates empathy and compassion for young children. Dependable, adaptable, and a collaborative team player. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. to support child safety and program facilitation. Preferred Prior experience in early childhood education or childcare. Experience transporting children or passengers professionally. CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
