The ideal candidate will be responsible for educating students on safe driving practices, traffic laws, and vehicle operation both behind the wheel and in the classroom. This role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to remain calm and constructive during new driver behind the wheel lessons and manage a classroom environment effectively. As a Driving Instructor, you will play a crucial role in shaping the driving skills and habits of future drivers. Responsibilities Provide hands-on driving instruction in a vehicle, guiding students through practical applications of their classroom knowledge. Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to enhance their driving skills. Maintain a positive and engaging learning environment that encourages student participation. Manage classroom dynamics effectively, addressing any behavioral issues promptly and professionally. Communicate clearly with students regarding expectations, goals, and performance evaluations. Stay updated on state driving laws and regulations to ensure compliance in teaching practices. Qualifications Have a high school diploma. Hold a valid transcript reflecting successful completion of six (6) semester hours of courses approved by the Virginia Dept. of Motor Vehicles. Have at least five years of driving experience and a driving record with no more than six demerit points. Be able to successfully submit to a national criminal history record check, also known as an identity history summary check. Previous experience in education or teaching is preferred. Strong classroom management skills with the ability to engage diverse groups of students. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to convey information clearly and effectively. Experience working with students in an educational setting is highly desirable. Ability to drive various types of vehicles while instructing students safely. Patience and adaptability to meet the needs of individual learners in both classroom and practical settings.
