Job Description

Transit Instructor Current IT Employees Only We are currently recruiting for three (3) full-time Transit Instructor positions. The positions plans, develops, coordinates, promotes, and conducts training in support of the Operations Department and requires knowledge of transportation programs.

Ability to conduct ride along evaluations, return to work Ride Checks and other evaluations of Operators. Outstanding communication and teamwork skills. A proven track record of providing exceptional customer service in every interaction. Ability to foster a participatory organizational climate that is open, positive, and supportive. Then this position is for you! As a Transit Instructor, you will: Prioritizes, plans, schedules, implements, and delivers new hire operator training, ongoing operator training, refresher training and post-accident training to include classroom and on the road instruction. Operates buses or vans when necessary. Utilizes instructional materials and training aids. Ensures compliance with contract provisions, DOL rules and regulations, and FTA regulations. Reviews, interprets, and implements applicable state, federal and industry standards to include conferring with subject matter experts and licensing agencies/associations regarding compliance issues and regulations, instructional materials and training aids. Coordinates and conducts annual training bid process for Operations. Performs critical evaluation and audit of operator skill development to include conducting ride along evaluations for all operators on an annual basis. Develops and ensures proper preparation and maintenance of records, reports, and evaluations of operator skills. Tracks and monitors progress of probationary operators to include conducting ride along evaluations and providing additional training and guidance as necessary. Reports the need for corrective action to the Operations Deputy Director. Prepares and maintains all related records. Coordinates, plans, and implements a program for Transit Operators to serve as Core Trainers. Ensure that Core Trainers have been trained and are prepared to provide necessary training to Transit Operator Trainees. Including but not limited to the safe operation of Intercity Transit fleet vehicles, preparing for CDL testing, and other tasks as assigned. Are you the one we're looking for? Two years' Intercity Transit bus driving experience; No written disciplinary action within the last two years; No preventable accidents in the last three years; No more than one moving violation and no citable accidents within the last five years; Ability to work varied shifts and days with overtime as required. Valid WA State Class B CDL with passenger endorsement and air-brake restriction removed; Valid DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate The ability to effectively lead, plan, organize prioritize, work independently, and meet deadlines.; Strong attention to detail and excellent follow-through.
