As a Lead Teacher, you'll play a key role in shaping young minds while leading a classroom rooted in our core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. What You'll Do As a Lead Teacher, you will: Create and implement engaging, age-appropriate lesson plans (including Zoo Phonics) Lead and manage a safe, structured, and nurturing classroom environment Supervise children and activities while maintaining proper ratios at all times Build strong relationships with families through communication and conferences Maintain accurate program records and licensing requirements Support and problem-solve staffing needs and daily challenges Ensure safety across all youth spaces, including transportation Participate in family events, staff meetings, and ongoing training What You Bring At least 18 years of age Experience working with children in a developmental setting (preferred) Strong communication and problem-solving skills Ability to lead with professionalism, empathy, and sound judgment Commitment to continuing education (STARS credits) Required within 30 days of hire: CPR, First Aid, and Child Abuse Prevention certifications Alarm/Emergency Procedures training Why You'll Love Working Here Be part of a mission-driven organization that impacts your local community Opportunities for professional development and ongoing training Supportive team environment focused on growth and collaboration The chance to inspire children and families every day Work Environment & Physical Requirements Active role requiring standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 40 lbs Fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and daily variety Our Culture & Commitment We expect all team members to: Uphold YMCA policies, including child safety and abuse prevention Maintain professional boundaries and report concerns appropriately Actively support our Annual Campaign and community initiatives Ready to Lead and Inspire?
