Job Description The School of Education and Human Sciences at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) invites applications for the position of Chair of the Department of Curriculum & Instruction to begin July 2026. We seek a visionary, collaborative, and innovative leader with a strong scholarly record, administrative experience, and a commitment to excellence, equity, and engagement. The Chair provides strategic, academic, and administrative leadership for the Department of Curriculum & Instruction, which includes diverse programs in educator preparation, school psychology, the learning sciences, and advanced degrees. The Chair promotes a culture of trust, collaboration, and continuous improvement, and advocates for the department within the School, University, and broader educational community. Required Qualifications An earned doctoral degree in an appropriate field of educator preparation.
A record of accomplishments commensurate with a tenure track appointment at the rank of full professor.
Demonstrated excellence in scholarship, teaching, and service.
Successful academic administrative experience at the program or department level (or equivalent).
Experience with promotion and tenure processes, including mentoring and evaluation.
