Job Description

The UCR School of Medicine invites nominations and applications for the position of Chair of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences, The incumbent will report to the Vice Chancellor and Dean, UCR School of Medicine, and will be responsible for the overall management of the department including, strategic planning, financial and budgetary planning and accountability, performance improvement, resource allocation, program development, recruitment and development of faculty, and for the management of the educational, clinical and research activities of the Department. This position will also provide leadership and direction in meeting the mission of the School of Medicine. The successful applicant must qualify for an academic appointment in one of the following series: Ladder Rank Professor, Professor of Clinical X or Health Sciences Clinical Professor series at the full professor rank for the position of Chair of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences. Founded in 2013, the School of Medicine at UCR is the sixth University of California Medical School and serves the rapidly growing Inland Southern California region by training a much-needed physician workforce and catalyzing innovations in research, education, and healthcare delivery. The UCR School of Medicine's mission is to improve the health of the community in the Inland Empire, one of the most ethnically diverse and medically underserved areas of the country. Advancement through the faculty ranks at the University of California is through a series of structured, merit-based evaluations, occurring every 2-3 years, each of which includes substantial peer input. The successful candidate must possess an MD degree or both MD and PhD degrees, and current board certification in Obstetrics, Gynecology as well as meet the eligibility requirements for a medical license in the State of California. Successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to work successfully with and benefit a diverse student body. Candidate must demonstrate scholarly activity, evidenced by peer reviewed publications and extramural funding. The successful candidate must possess an excellent clinical record of expertise and a strong commitment to medical student and resident education. Finally, the candidate must demonstrate appropriate administrative and operational experience and a proven record of clinical, academic, and administrative leadership qualities. Rank will be determined based on qualifications and experience. The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 5 for the salary range. The budgetary range for this position starts at $400K and final compensation will be dependent on specialty. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan , which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.
