The Psychology and Child Development Department in the College of Liberal Arts at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, invites applications for a one-year , full-time (Non-tenure-track) lecturer appointment in Child Development beginning August 17, 2026 with the possibility of a one-year extension toAY 27/28
contingent on budget, department need, and satisfactory evaluations. The successful candidate will have a master's degree with a specialization in developmental psychology or related field and teach upper division courses in Child Development (e.g., Children and Adolescents and Technology, Interpersonal Relationships in Childhood and Adolescence, Research Methods in Developmental Science, etc,) and undergraduate research supervision. The expected teaching load is 4 courses per semester (one of which will consist of supervising student research), with potential summer teaching opportunities. We seek a teacher committed to excellence in undergraduate instruction and Cal Poly's Learn by Doing philosophy. Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background and are determined by the hiring department. Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank. As of July 2024, the classification salary ranges for the respective ranks are:Lecturer A:

masters degree in Developmental Psychology, or related field. Teaching experience in developmental psychology.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS A
PhD in Developmental Psychology, Human Development and Family Studies, or related field. Teaching and/or research experience in one or more of the following areas: infant and toddler development, early and middle childhood development, adolescence, children's development in diverse cultures, research methods, and upper division seminars in developmental psychology.
