FV0022 Location Morehouse College - Atlanta GA Position Summary The Morehouse Education Department is seeking a Visiting Professor for the Educator Preparation Program in the SY 2026-2027, starting August 1, 2026. The Visiting Professor works under the guidance of the Education Department Chair and with the support of the Director of Teacher Education to implement a high-quality, structured teacher preparation program that aligns with the Morehouse mission and state standards. This role is responsible for teaching coursework and supervising students pursuing an undergraduate teaching credential in the state of Georgia, including facilitation of three courses each semester and the oversight of student field experience and certification requirements associated with those courses. The Visiting Professor will join a team of highly-engaged, student-centered practitioner-educators who are empowering our next generation of teacher-leaders. Required Qualifications The right candidate for this role will have experience teaching/leading as a credentialed teacher in a K-12 classroom, with a terminal degree in an education field. The Visiting Professor should also have experience coaching and developing teachers, meeting reporting requirements for teacher certification, and leadership in either the K-12 or teacher certification spaces. The Visiting Professor should be prepared to lead instruction for teacher candidates that includes but is not limited to Curriculum and Methods across humanities and math/sciences fields, content mastery curricula, and Student Teaching. The Visiting Professor will support teacher candidates and Education Department colleagues in review and implementation of culturally responsive promising practices in education and target outcomes for teacher certification. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Minimum requirements include: terminal degree in education certified teaching/leading in a K-12 space for 3+ years 3+ years coaching teachers/leading teacher development successful completion of teacher certification requirements (including state licensure assessments) recent experience or professional development in K-12 classrooms. Preference will be provided to practitioners who have experience teaching/leading Educator Preparation Programs in Georgia or other states, those who have demonstrated experience leading teacher development initiatives, and/or have been involved in the evaluation of teacher candidates or Educator Preparation Provider programs through a state authorizing agency. Candidates must have demonstrated experience supporting teachers in the development of curricula and instructional best practices in urban, K-12 classrooms. Compensation The salary is $70,000 plus fringe benefits. This is a one-year, 9-month appointment that begins August 1, 2026 and May 31, 2027. This position may be renewed on an annual basis pending satisfactory performance against articulated goals.
