Job Description:
Stony Brook University's School of Professional Development is seeking part-time lecturers to teach a variety of courses in the Master of Liberal Arts (MALS) online graduate program (see below). These courses are pedagogy classes amied at K-12 teachers. The successful candidate will join a team of dedicated educators and subject-matter experts committed to delivering high-quality, engaging, and rigorous online education to graduate students. This is a remote teaching role with flexible hours. The candidate should understand K-12 pedagogy and the K-12 classroom.
Key Responsibilities:
Teach one or more asynchronous courses per academic term or as needed. Develop or adapt course materials, including syllabus, course learning outcomes, course content, and assessments, in collaboration with instructional designers in the Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching Commitment to effective teaching and student engagement Provide timely and constructive formative and summative feedback to students. Be available to meet with students synchronously (Zoom) throughout the academic term and during regularly scheduled virtual office hours. Collaborate with Graduate Program Director, faculty and staff colleagues. Attend and participate in scheduled faculty meetings Course Topics Include but not limited to: Differentiated Instruction, Co-Teaching for
Inclusion, Preventing Bullying & Bias Qualifications Required Qualifications:
Master's degree in a relevant field. Experience teaching in higher education Strong communication and problem-solving skills Proficiency using a learning management system (Blackboard, Canvas, Brightspace, etc.), Google Suite for
Educators, and Zoom Preferred Qualifications:
Ph.D. or Ed.
