Position Summary The University of Central Arkansas Department Chair is responsible leadership in the academic department, teaching, research and service. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy. The position is tenured or tenure track (depending on elgibility) and a twelve-month appointment. Job Duties and Responsibilities The chair is responsible for program administration, budget and resource management, faculty and staff supervision, and strategic advancement of teaching and research excellence. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge, skills, and judgement as typically gained by being tenured and promoted at an accredited institution of higher education, taking on increased leadership over the time of those appointments. - Demonstrate effective follow-up. Required Education and/or Experience The formal education of a doctorate or terminal degree required.
- Record of teaching excellence and scholarly accomplishments appropriate for appointment with tenure as Professor or Associate Professor. Evidence of leadership gained through programmatic development, grant funding, engagement with professional organizations, leadership roles in important committees, or past administrative experience.
- Demonstrated success in obtaining extramural support through grants and/or fundraising.
Preferred Education and/or Experience Experience in programmatic development. Experience in ABET accreditation. Experience working with State Agencies. Experience in Workforce Development. Industrial and/or entrepreneurial experience. License(s)/Certifications (Required or Preferred) None required.
