Job Description

Simulation Educator Full-time/40 Hours per Week Salary Range Commensurate with experience Grant Funded This position is funded by an external grant. The position is dependent on the continuation of grant funding. Job Summary The Simulation Educator will support the implementation and facilitation of the SIMWISE toolkit, ensuring effective faculty training and simulation-based education. This individual will assist in the design, execution, and debriefing of simulation activities, providing dedicated support for faculty and learners. The role is critical to the success of year 1 internal faculty training and year 2 regional "train-the-trainer" workshops.
Major Responsibilities/Duties/Critical Tasks Faculty Workshops & Training:
Facilitate faculty workshops and training sessions focused on simulation-based education and effective integration of simulations into curricula. Coordinate logistics, scheduling, and resource distribution for all internal and regional workshops associated with The SIMWISE Toolkit.
Simulation Scenario Design & Implementation:
Assist in the design, implementation, and evaluation of simulation scenarios, ensuring they meet educational objectives and simulation standards. Collaborate with program faculty to create detailed simulation scripts with detailed outcomes. Support testing and piloting of scenarios to ensure alignment with learning objectives and standardization across sites.
Debriefing & Assessment:
Provide expert guidance on best practices in simulation debriefing, focusing on reflective learning and constructive feedback for both faculty and learners. Support the development and use of assessment tools to evaluate both student and faculty performance in simulations.
Subject Matter Expert:
Serve as a subject matter expert for faculty, offering support and advice on integrating simulation into various nursing curricula. Maintain up-to-date knowledge on simulation trends, national guidelines, and emerging technologies to inform continuous improvement to the SIMWISE program and nursing curriculum.
Faculty Development:
Support faculty development in using The SIMWISE toolkit, ensuring they have the necessary resources and knowledge to facilitate high-quality simulations. Participate in data collection and feedback analysis for ongoing program evaluation. Adherence to
Standards:
Ensure that all simulation activities adhere to INACSL standards and national simulation guidelines for best practices in simulation education. Assist with documentation of simulation activity tracking through The SIMWISE Toolkit Grant. Required Education/Experience Master's degree in Nursing, Education, or a related field. Proven experience in simulation-based education and faculty development. A combination of experience and education may be considered. Preferred Education/Experience Doctorate in nursing, education, or a related field. Experience in designing and facilitating simulation scenarios for various nursing competencies. Familiarity with simulation educational resources. Accompanying Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies Proficiency in simulation-based education and debriefing techniques. In-depth knowledge of INACSL standards and other national simulation guidelines. Strong communication, interpersonal skills, with the ability to train, mentor, and collaborate with faculty. Ability to work independently and adapt to various teaching environments and challenges. Expertise in the use of simulation technologies and tools for educational purposes. Strong organizational and time-management skills, capable of balancing multiple tasks and deadlines. Demonstrated proficiency in simulation debriefing and facilitation techniques.
