Position Summary
JOB SUMMARY
The Alabama Department of Human Resources Summer Youth Program Worker provides support to various departments at Gadsden State Community College, assisting with clerical tasks, organization, and general office duties. This part-time role is designed to offer work experience to eligible youths while contributing to the institution's daily operations. Responsibilities will vary by department and location but may include administrative support, visitor assistance, inventory management, event preparation and campus maintenance. Work schedules may be adjusted slightly based on the employee's availability, ensuring flexibility while meeting departmental needs. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPOSITIONS NEEDED

Monday-Wednesday, 8:30am-1:30pm (flexible hours) List of duties: Direct visitors and answer inquiries about the location of buildings Deliver messages to faculty on campus Assist with covering office hours, campus visits, and phone inquiries Assist as needed with preparing documents and participating in outreach functions Assist staff as needed with basic tasks related to student services Support staff with the execution of training and professional development Assist with student engagement events Shredding documents Prepare mail-outs Prepare information bags for campus tours Assist with putting away supplies Receive, sort, and distribute mail to designated locations Organize storage area and maintain inventory File documents Perform other related tasksCampus :

Eligible participants must be aged 16-24 and have household income below 200% of the 2025 Federal Poverty Guideline. Refer to the DHR chart which lists the income limit by household size. For all positions on all Salary Schedules, the salary amount for the selected applicant is determined by step placement on the applicable schedule. Step placement is dependent upon the following: (a) all work experience in public education in Alabama and (b) all other work experience outside of public education in Alabama that, in the sole judgment of the College, directly relates to the requirements of the position. The applicant selected for the position must provide written verification(s) of this work experience within the time provided herein if such experience is to be considered in determining their initial step place on the Salary Schedule. Format forWork Experience Verifications:
Work experience verifications should be in the form of verification letters from employers and must include complete employment dates, job title(s), job duties, and an indication whether such employment was full-time or part-time, and if part-time, the average number of hours worked each week. The letters should be on official letterhead and contain an authorized personnel signature. The College's official employment verification form is also acceptable and is available upon request.
