Until Filled Tolleson Union High School District #214 Assistant Principal Registration and Records Purpose The job of the Assistant Principal Registration and Records administers school and District policies and regulations as needed, supervision of certificated and classified employees, student discipline, attendance monitoring, and managing specific school programs as assigned. The Assistant Principal will supervise classroom instruction and evaluate teaching performance for assigned curriculum area. The Assistant Principal will assist in creating a total school atmosphere conducive to optimum student progress and participate in the ongoing development and evaluation of the district's educational program. The Assistant Principal will be responsible for maintenance and review the system of academic record keeping, ensure effective communication and partnerships fostered with parents and students regarding academic progress and remediation, and oversee grades, grade verification, and posting of grades. Qualifications Required Valid Arizona teaching and principal certificate. Master's degree in Education, Administration, or other related field. Minimum of five (5) years teaching experience at the secondary level and/or five (5) years counseling experience. Minimum three (3) years of leadership experience. Valid AZ Department of Public Safety (DPS) Identity Verified Print (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card. Expertise in curriculum and instructional strategies and development; student assessment development and analysis; and instructional technology. 7. Demonstrated background in instructional leadership and ability to work collaboratively. Demonstrated leadership and ability to work effectively with various groups, individuals, and a demonstrated ability to organize ideas and present with clarity and conciseness. Knowledge of the school district and its departments, policies, and procedures, preferred. Knowledge of dropout intervention best practices that lead to connection to the school community and student success. Ability to assume responsibility, exercise sound judgment, and handle confidential material and information. Preferred Bilingual in English and Spanish. Essential Functions Report directly to the campus Principal. Assists the principal in the overall administration of the school. Serves as a principal in the absence of the regular principal as assigned. Administers and maintains discipline throughout the student body. Assists in the implementation of the District-approved program of instruction: Assists in creating a total school atmosphere conducive to optimum student progress, participating in the ongoing development and evaluation of the District's educational programs, assists in implementing effective guidance and health services for all students, and assists in interpreting data for program improvement. Responsible for personnel management functions of the school: assists in making recommendations regarding the selection of school personnel, assists in interviewing prospective teachers for assigned curriculum area, supervise classroom instruction and evaluates teaching performance for assigned curriculum area, supervise classified staff, evaluates achievement and placement of students in assigned curriculum area, coordinates Summer School program as needed, serves as member of the textbook selection committee for assigned area, assists in developing effective lines of communication and staff input in educational planning, prepares budget in assigned curriculum areas as directed by the principal. Participate in student study teams, 504 planning, and IEP process as needed. Monitors the academic achievement of students and makes recommendations for interventions or alternative placements. Responsible for general administrative functions such as maintaining accurate records and preparing reports. Assists with the management and implementation of computerized attendance, data management, scheduling, and grading system. Participate in the development of policies as a member of the administrative team and interpret school and District programs, policies, and procedures to students, staff, parents, and community. Assists in safety inspections and safety drill practice activities/safety plan preparation. Assisting in the development and maintenance of productive community relations. Assumes a leadership role in change and revitalization projects. Actively pursue professional growth activities for staff under their supervision. 16. Supervises campus, athletic events, and activities as assigned. Participates in coordination of Site testing. Assists with graduation activities and ceremonies. Participate in district departmental meetings for the purpose of developing a stronger department. Responsible for overseeingGuidance Department, Registrar, and Records Clerk:
oversee support programs for students with special circumstances (IEP, 504, ELL, McKinneyVento, etc.); manage student registration process including open enrollment; oversee academic data storage; oversee the development of master schedule/classroom assignments and certified staffing needs; and oversee grade reporting process. Manage credit retrieval process. Responsible for organizing the Open House, Future Freshman, Financial Aid Night activities. Coordinate academic awards/scholarships. Supervise career fairs/college visitations. Coordinate NCAA clearinghouse process. Oversee graduation logistics (graduation list, speeches, etc.). Support technology infrastructure (student information system, Parent/Student Portal, teacher grade books management, online attendance, etc.). Work with students to develop and to monitor Academic Improvement Plans. Work closely with teachers and counselors to assist "at risk" students and monitors specific students. Collaborate with others to develop special programs to motivate and ensure the academic success of students. Attend all student hearings and MD meetings (SPED). Maintain the Student Procedures Handbook. Oversee the early intervention/prevention programs. Assist in extracurricular supervision. Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit. Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities SKILLS are required to perform multiple tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Working Environment The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 80% sitting, 10% walking, and 10% standing. The job is performed under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness. Working conditions may require work to be performed in both the field with extreme weather conditions and in an indoor environment with minimal temperature variations and some hazardous conditions. The employee will regularly work indoors. The noise level in the work environment is moderate. Travel between District campuses and to locations outside the District is required. The working hours are somewhat flexible as the job may require hours beyond normal business hours.Reports to:
