This individual will foster physical wellness, teamwork, sportsmanship, and school spirit while supporting the mission and values of Catholic education. The ideal candidate will promote the development of the whole child through engaging physical education instruction and strong leadership of the school's athletic programs. The position includes teaching Physical Education classes for TK-8th grade students and overseeing the organization, supervision, and growth of the school's athletic program.
Physical Education Teacher Responsibilities:
Plan and teach age-appropriate Physical Education lessons for TK-8th grade students. Promote physical fitness, healthy habits, teamwork, sportsmanship, and lifelong wellness. Create a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment for all students. Develop lessons aligned with school curriculum standards and developmental needs. Organize and supervise games, fitness activities, skill development, and movement instruction. Monitor student behavior and maintain appropriate classroom management during activities. Ensure proper use, care, and storage of athletic and PE equipment. Maintain safety standards and procedures during all activities. Integrate Catholic values and character development into instruction and student interactions.
Athletic Director Responsibilities:
Coordinate and oversee the school's athletic program for middle school and/or elementary sports teams. Organize sports seasons, schedules, practices, transportation needs, and game logistics. Serve as liaison between the school and athletic leagues, officials, coaches, and opposing schools. Recruit, support, and communicate with volunteer and paid coaches. Ensure compliance with league regulations, school policies, and diocesan guidelines. Oversee athletic registrations, eligibility requirements, forms, and parent communication. Supervise athletic events and ensure appropriate student conduct and sportsmanship. Manage athletic equipment, uniforms, inventory, and facility usage. Coordinate awards, recognition, and athletic-related school events. Promote school spirit and student participation in athletics. Assist administration in developing and growing extracurricular athletic opportunities. Requirements Bachelor's degree preferred in Physical Education, Education, Kinesiology, or related field. Experience teaching children in TK-8th grade settings preferred. Coaching and/or athletic administration experience preferred. Ability to organize, lead, and supervise school athletic programs effectively. Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills. Commitment to supporting the mission and values of Catholic education. CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain. Completion of diocesan safe environment requirements and background clearance as required.
Schedule:
This position is scheduled for approximately 25-30 hours per week, with a consistent weekly schedule to be determined in collaboration with school leadership.
